Former Arizona State Sun Devil and Arizona Cardinal quarterback Jake Plummer has accepted an assistant coach position for the Sandpoint High School football team in Idaho, according to the Idaho Statesman.
Sandpoint head coach Mike Mitchell said Plummer will be coaching the quarterbacks and helping out with the offense.
""It's not an-every-single-day deal because he has other commitments in the fall, but he's excited about it and we're happy to have a guy with that kind of experience," Mitchell said. "He has great charisma and the kids love to be around him."
The amount of pay Plummer will receive was not specified.
Plummer played for the Sun Devils before being drafted by the Cardinals in 1997.
He played for the Cardinals from 1997-2002 before signing as a free agent with the Denver Broncos.
Plummer retired from the NFL in 2007 after the Broncos traded him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
