These types of crimes happen everyday in Phoenix, but not nearly enough of them get solved.

"It involved and armed robbery that happened at Thomas and 24th Street," says Phoenix police Sergeant Paul Penzone.

it was at a pawn store on April 25th, 2006. Penzone says the robbery happened in the middle of the afternoon, just after 3 p.m.

"This Hispanic male walked in. He was armed with a handgun, in front of the clerk stole the money and took off."

The surveillance pictures are crystal clear. "The thing that is aggravating for law enforcement is that we capture phenomenal photographs of these suspects, yet have a difficult time identifying them when so many people in the community know who they are."

The problem is, not enough people take the time to look at pictures.

"The suspect's a Hispanic male, probably in his late 20s or early 30s. He has very short hair, a thin mustache and clean shaven. He looked like he was medium-to-heavy build. He was wearing a black cap and a plaid shirt at the time of this robbery," says Penzone.

In this case, Penzone says it was fortunate no one was hurt in this case. "But it's likely an offender like this will repeat this type of crime and eventually it will lead to violence, on top of all the property and monetary lost to these independent businesses."
