Star Wars Dance Off: If you're a Star Wars fan...
you might want to cover your ears. Someone sent me what's
called a "
Deeply Disturbing Video of Star Wars Characters Dancing
to LMFAO." I sent it to one trekkie who was kind
of upset that I put the image of Chewbacca shaking it with
Princess Amidala and Princess Leia in the metal bra get up
she wore while tied up to Jabba the Hutt. And I'm pretty
sure R2D2 was wearing an afro.
Toys Turned Action Movies: You know that
movie GI Joe: Retaliation. It was supposed to come out on
June 29th of this year. However, according to Deadline Hollywood,
it's been moved 9 months to open in March of 2013 to add
3D . . . GI Joe is based on the toys. Well some other toys
are getting the movie treatment. They're developing a
movie based on Lego Hero Factory robot, so says The Hollywood Reporter.
New Movie Trailer: There's a movie coming
out starring Bradley Cooper in dreadlocks and some pretty
cheesy red athletic pants. No ladies, he doesn't look
dreamy. Looks like he's playing the bad guy in Hit
and Run which appears to be about a guy in the
witness protection program who's in a fast car with his
girlfriend trying to avoid his old partners in crime. It
also stars Kristen Bell, Dax
Shepherd, Kristin Chenoweth and Tom Arnold also star:
The Dark Knight TV spot:Yep, here is the
new TV spot for The Dark Knight Rises.
Kudos for Emma: The Valley's own Emma
Stone will receive MTV's first Trailblazer award on
Sunday, June 3. Entertainment Weekly reports, that it was
created to "call out actors beloved by the MTV audience
who are carving out their own unique and diverse path
within Hollywood."

Which One of These Things Is Not Like the
Other?: OK, so there was a White Out at
Jobing.com Arena last night when the Coyotes lost to the
LA Kings. That's defintely KTAR's own Paul Calvisi there
on the right. But who are his two dates on the left?
Cute Animal Video: This dog really wants
its toy. I mean, this dog really, REALLY
wants its stuffed animal.
Movie Trailer: Leo DiCaprio is playing
The Great Gatsby.
It has all the marks of Baz Luhrman's lush directing.
Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan also star.
Past Pixar Pictures: From May 25 through
May 28, "Toy Story 3," "Ratatouille," "Up" and "Wall•e"
will be featured on the big screen at AMC locations around
the country. Each film will be accompanied by a classic
Pixar short film and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look
at the upcoming movie, "Brave."
Get details at AMC Theatres.
Another Movie Trailer: There's a new
movie coming out on June 29 called - People Like Us and
it looks kinda interesting even if it doesn't have aliens
or explosions. It's the story how a brother finds out that
he has a sister after the death of his father.

New Teaser Trailer: Our favorite San
Diego
news anchor team is back.
America, get ready for Anchorman 2:
Cute Animal Video: There are goats and
there's a baby. And the Baby loves goats. It's cute to
watch.
Movie Poster: Check out the new
The Dark Knight
Rises movie poster. I think it looks pretty
cool.
Phoenix Comicon: Just want to remind
everyone that Phoenix Comicon starts on May 24
.
William Shatner will be making an appearance. Alas, I will
not. So, I'm warning Salt Lake City you better have
something really nice for me to take my mind off the fact
that I won't be there with all the Trekkies and Star Wars
fanboys. There will be a bunch of cast members from Star
Trek:TNG and the original TV Hulk, Lou Ferrigno will be
there. Yes, I've met him and yes, his arms are that big.
Where Are Miley's Pants: OK, Miley.
You're all grown up. You're talking about having sex
publicly and now you're going without
pants? We understand you wanting to shed your
Hannah Montana wig. But really?
Monday, May 21
New James Bond Trailer: The next James
Bond
movie, Skyfall, comes out in November. And Sony has
released
the first trailer for it today:
The Daily Cute Animal Video: This video
is called Funny Goat.
I've never seen a goat with horns that look like he stole
them from a Texas longhorn. But in an interview with a
Spanish language TV personality, and yes, I said
interview, it had quite a lot to say.
What Happened on SNL: Two things happened
on Saturday Night Live. First, fan
favorite Kristen Wiig took her exit from the show. Yep, it
was her final show as a series regular. And mick jagger
hosted and performed on the show. During is monologue he
chose to answer the questions he's most frequently asked
including his thoughts on his greatest regret, missing the
opening of the restaurant Ruby Tuesdays.
Chef Cannibal: At a food festival over
the weekend, celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain said he would
eat a human (although, it wouldn't be his first option - a
bag of Doritos would be, according to HuffPo
), would take a can of gasoline to burn down the
Olive Garden chain (and I'm leaving out the f-bomb he
dropped).
Another Snow White Clip:Snow White and the
Huntsmanopens on June 1. And I found another clip
that shows that Charlize Theron is a scene-
stealer, hands down.
Friday, May 18
Daily Cute Video: No animals in this one.
Although some parents might consider their toddlers
animals based on the messes they make. This video is darling. You've
got a little boy trying to hug a little girl. She's not
down with it, but he's not giving up.
Teaser Trailer: From Stephanie Meyer -
the
Valley woman who brought us the Twiilght series - there's
a
teaser trailer for a movie based on her book The
Host. That movie is scheduled to come out
March
of 2013.
No Love Lost: David Letterman hosted
Conan
O'Brien on The Late Show with DL last night
and, no surprise, they wasted no time picking on Jay
Leno.
Meeting of the Funny Men (And One Woman...Sort
Of): It's a Hollywood marriage that's I didn't
know would ever happen. Eugene Levy, funny man will be in
the next Madea movie. And who is Madea? Medea is a wise
cracking 6-foot plus black woman played by Hollywood
heavyweight Tyler Perry. Some of you don't have clue who
Tyler Perry is, but his Madea movies have made a LOT of
money. Here's the trailer for Madea's Witness
Protection:
Thursday, May 17
Ab Wars: Shaquille O'Neil and Charles
Barkley had a shirt off bet to prove who has the best
abs on Tuesday night after an NBA playoff game. Someone
declared, Charles had a half pack. You won't believe what
Shaq did to his abs:
Love Our Betty: Betty White was on David Letterman
last night and talked about how Regis Philbin
appeared on her TV show Hot in Cleveland and give her
quite
a kiss...
Idol Exit: Sources say, J Lo may be on
the
way out as a judge on American Idol. One source
tells MSNBC, she's just too busy. Think about
it. She's got twins. She's going on a worldwide tour.
She's
dating a man half her age. That takes a lot out of you.
Wednesday, May 16
Daily Cute Video: No animals this
time. Just cute 3-year-old Grace
who loves to get down to Goyte. Today's Cute
Video is a 3 year old girl named
Coming This Fall: I'm sensing a theme
here with JJ Abrams. His show Lost -
about a plane crash. The last Star Trek movie, begins with
the Enterprise taking a big hit. And now, his new fall TV
show Revolution opens with a plane falling out of the
sky...and some other bad stuff happening after a blackout
wipes out all power and I mean ALL power. So far the
trailer has had
more than 5 million hits on YouTube . . . And ABC will
move into 666
Park Avenue. It's supposed to the scariest
residence in New York City.
Another Sequel: What would Hollywood be
with another sequel? This one will be a sequel to Rise of
the Planet of the Apes.
Read about the details.
The Real Kardashian Bio: Looks like
someone blew up Kim Kardashian's IMDB.com bio page with
some truth bombs. According to EW, someone set off a
"truth grenades" by posting that she is
"emblematic of the shallowness of American culture in
the first two decades of the new millenium." It also
blasted the fact that Kardashian and Paris Hilton were
celebrated and not shamed for having sex tapes released.
Read
about what happened.
Iron Man Is REALLY Rich: No, I'm not
referring to Tony Stark. I'm talking about Robert Downey,
Jr. For starring in The Avengers, The Hollywood Reporter says
thanks to box office bonuses and back end compensation, he
earned way more than his co-stars. He's taking in a hefty
$50M - and that number could go higher if The Avengers
keeps raking in the moolah.
Tuesday, May 15
Spider-Man Featurette: July 3 is when The
Amazing Spiderman hits the big screen. Here's a 4
minute featurette to tide you over between multiple
viewings of The Avengers and the Spidey movie:
Today's Cute Animal Video: The video is
called "The most
patient and docile cat ever!" And for
nearly 3 minutes, Bosn the cat, casually tolerates the
exuberant affections of Laurelin, the baby.
New on DVD: It's Tuesday. That's the day
most DVDs are released. Today's crop includes The
Grey starring Liam Neeson,
Chronicle about teens who get super
powers and how bad that could be when you have hormones
raging, The Devil Inside, Albert
Nobbs, which earned Glenn Close and Janet McTeer
gender bending Oscar nominations. McTeer gives the bravura
performance in that one. You can also pick up One
for the Money. That's based on the popular Janet
Evanovich Stephanie Plum bounty hunter series. I saw the
trailer and if you're a fan of the books like me, that
trailer didn't resemble anything in the books, in my
humble opinion.
Movie Blotter: Did I tell you guys
they're making another Die Hard movie.
That would be number 5 in the franchise if you're keeping
count. It's called A Good Day to Die
Hard. The plot: Willis travels to Russia with
love...to get his son out of prison. AND as if that's not
enough they also foil a terrorist plot, according to
CinemaBlend.
Monday, May 14
Time vs. Newsweek: Last week, Time
magazine's cover featuring a mother breast-feeding her
nearly 4-year-old son on the cover. Well, it seems, this
week, Newsweek says, I'll see you one mom and raise you
one president with a cover describing President Obama as the first gay
president. Anyone remember, how Bill Clinton
was jokingly called the "first Black" president when he
was elected? I guess they had to find another first for
Obama.
Intriguing Summer Movie: There's a movie
that got a lot of talk after it wowed crowds at the Cannes
and Sundance film festivals. It's called "Beasts of the Southern Wild
" and it's about a how a little girl faces the illness
of her father and environmental changes that unleash
prehistoric animals in the southern Delta. When you watch
trailer you'll say "What?" but it will definitely leave
you
intrigued...especiallly after you see them sailing around
in
a the back of an old pick-up truck that's been made sea-
ready.
Taxpayers as Movie Moguls?: It could
happen with a planned pre-quel to Mel Gibson's wildy
successful "The Passion of the Christ." It seems, a
Mexican drug trafficker will have to turn over his stake
in the planned pre-quel. If it gets made, the U.S.
government gets a cut because a drug trafficker ended up
with control of the script. That story alone would make a
pretty good Michael Mann (Miami Vice) movie. Read the wild story
here.
True Blood News: Here's the official
Season 5 trailer. And there are some new vamps in town,
specifically, Christopher Meloni of Law & Order:SVU fame
becoming the head of the sort of vampire police. The
trailer opens with what looks like (Spoiler Alert: don't
read this and don't watch the trailer if you don't want to
know) the death or serious injury of Sookie's best friend
Tara. And Terry's demons (real or imagined) seem to
finally be taking their toll.
Friday, May 11
Cute Animal Video: My dear friend Finn
whom I've known since...well, Ronald Reagan was president,
sent me a video to
share with RightThisMinute. But I had to share it here,
because it's just darn funny. Let's just say you take your
dog to a beach and it finds a lovely patch of seaweed and
she rolls in it and sniffs it. Then another dog comes
along. Guess what the other dog does...
New Movie Trailer: For the people who
like
the potty humor comedy of Will Ferrell and Zach
Galifianakis
and political comedy - then you might like the upcoming
summer movie The Campaign. Watch the trailer
here.
Bristol & Gay Marriage: Bristol Palin
says Glee, the TV show, is the reason President Obama
annouced he now supports gay marriage. In her blog, she
declared that children need to be raised by a mother and
father, according to the Boston Herald
. She said quote: "In this case, it would've been
nice if the President would've been an actual leader and
helped shape (daughters Malia and Sasha's) thoughts
instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think
after one too many episodes of ‘Glee.'" The president said
discussions with his wife and daughters helped him evolve
his stance on the issue.
Things Mom's say... I tweeted some of the best advice I
ever got from my mother, ahead of Mother's Day. I had to
shorten it, but the entire quote was "Don't expect a man
to buy you anything you can't buy yourself...except a
wedding ring." Here are some of the surprising responses:
"Big Red Gum covers up the smell of alcohol" lol
— Tara Ransom (@mstara1982) May 11, 2012
- My mom: "Don't trust the diving board at your sister's house. They don't believe in maintenance."
— @andryeaINK (@andryeafoster) May 11, 2012
Walter Venerable III wrote: "Be safe, make good choices" as I was heading out to a strip club... Yeah...

Time Cover Raises Eyebrows: Time Magazine
features a woman breast-feeding her 3-year-old son. The
cover reads, "Are You Mom Enough? Whay attachment
parenting
drives some mothers to extremes..." It's for the article
titled "The Man Who Remade Motherhood
."
New Movie: Yesterday I told you about the
movie Killer Joe. It's drawn an NC-17
rating and the movie company isn't fighting it. Now,
they've
released a trailer. By watching it, you
wouldn't think NC-17. But, the topic, hiring a cop to kill
your mom for the insurance money doesn't exactly fun
viewing
for Mother's Day.
Another New Movie Trailer: Ryan Gosling
is teaming up wihthe Emma Stone. I've got the trailer to
Ryan Gosling's new movie. It's called Gangster Squad. Oh, it also
stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Nick Nolte.
It's a period gangster piece.
Wednesday, May 9
Sexy Women Pick the Sexiest: The
Victoria's Secret models picked who they think are the
Sexiest women in Hollywood. I like this: Emma Stone won
for Sexiest sense of humor. Watch the entire list:
Cute Animal Video: I love orangutans.
These
orangutans have been trained to use iPads to
communicate with their handlers.
Popular on YouTube: It's the video
everyone is talking about on the Internet. The Harvard baseball team doing their own music
video in the team van. However, the funny
part is while they were doing it, one player slept the
entire time the shennanigans were going on.
Remembering Maurice: Maurice Sendak - the
author of "Where the Wild Things Are" passed away just
days ago. But earlier this year, he appeared on The
Colbert Report. If you'd like a peek into his genius, you
can watch the segment
online.
New Snow White Clip:Let's just say,
Charlize Theron steals the scene she's in here. Nothing
like a good bad guy (or girl in this case). Snow White and the
Huntsman.
Tuesday, May 8
Cute Animal Video: Not only is this
chocolate poodle cute. This chocolate poodle
can dance!
General Aladeen, The Original Birther: Actor Sacha
Baron Cohen aka The Dictator had his first sit down
interview with a U.S. journalist in character. That
journalist was Larry King -- who exposed Aladeen as the
original "Birther." Watch the video.
Edgy Movie: William Friedkin, the man who
brought us The Exorcist, is releasing a new movie called
Killer Joe, according to Deadline. And
that movie has earned an NC-17 rating. I took a look at
the movie poster and it reads: "A totally twisted deep-
fried Texas redneck trailer park murder story." This movie
stars Matthew McConaughey and apparently, it's supposed to
be his best movie role to date. Film festival audiences
have embraced the film.
Stern vs. The PTC: Howard Stern is now
going to be one of the judges on America's Got Talent.
That ruffled the feathers of the Parents Television
Council. The PTC wrote a letter to 91 companies that
advertise on the show that it could cost them "millions of
dollars in customer goodwill," according to CNN
.
Passages: The wild rumpus is quiet today.
Children's book author and illustrator Maurice Sendak has
died. He wrote Where the Wild Things Are
and In the Night Kitchen. He won a
Caldecott Medal for Wild Things in the 60s. Sendak
suffered a stroke on Friday. He was 83.
New on DVD: The Vow, Underworld
Awakening and what I think is a direct to DVD
release called Madison County
. It's tag line: Pretend You're Somewhere Else.
On the poster, it has some kind of knife wielding pig
looking creature and girls in bikinis. I think that says
it all.
My App of the Week: Want to self destruct
your text chats after 10 seconds? Try SnapChat.
Monday, May 7
Cute Animal Video: It's the doggy DJ.
True Blood News: Chris Meloni left Law &
Order:SVU and put on some fangs. Yep, Meloni will star as
a vampire in Season 5 of the HBO series True Blood.
Watch the teaser trailer
.
Manning on Manning: On Saturday Night
Live, another Manning brother took on hosting duties. This
time it was Eli. And he was pretty darn funny in this
Little Brothers PSA
segment.
Speaking of SNL...: The tanning mom,
Patricia Krentcil, says she thinks the SNL skit featuring Kristen Wiig
was hysterical. Krentcil pleaded not guilty to
child endangerment after be was accused of taking her 6
year old daughter into a tanning bed with here.
Super Hero Movie Trailer:When I was one
of the many people who crowded into a movie theater to see
The Avengers on Friday night, I saw the latest trailer
from the upcoming film 'The Amazing Spiderman.'
Friday, May 4
The Animal Planet Election: David Gregory
of the Today Show asked Comedy Central host Steven Colbert
what the election comes down to between Obama and Romney -
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
May the Fourth Be With You...: Did you know it was Star Wars Day? It happens every year on May 4. The HuffingtonPost has posted 14 Star Wars video. My favorite is the a cappella tribute to John Williams. But you can't beat the 3-year- old girl explaining Star Wars in a way that only toddlers can.
Thursday, May 3
Ashton's Ad: Ashton Kutcher made an
ad for
PopChips, but it was pulled after someone
criticized him for appearing in brownface as Raj the
Bollywood producer.
Daily Cute Animal Video: An Oregon Zoo
lioness
was intrigued by 13-month old Jack Baltzor.
Why? Because Jack was wearing a zebra-striped hoodie and
she wanted a taste. Luckily, there was a big glass window
separating the two.
New Dating Show: Mix The
Bachelor, some celebrities and The
Voice and you've got the new dating reality show
The Choice. Look for that on Fox on June
9.
The Hollywood
Reporter has the story.
This Weekend's Movies: Aside from
The Avengers, which earned and 8.5/10
from the Phoenix Film Critics Society and a B+ from Entertainment Weekly
, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel opens this
weekend too. It stars some pretty heavyweight British
talent - Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Tom
Wilkinson, Bill Nighy and Dev Patel (from Slumdog
Millionaire). It's about retirees who outsource
their retirement to India...because it's cheaper.
Watch the trailer
here.
More Dukes: The guy behind the HBO show
Eastbound and Down may be doing a reboot of the Dukes of Hazzard for the big
screen.
See The First...: Cinemark will host a
special showing of the first film to get an Academy Award
for best picture. That's right. You can see Wings on May
16 at the Cinemark 16 in Mesa. You can catch a 2p or 7p
show. The film has been meticulously restored, so if you
have the day off, you might want to check it out. And tell
your friends in Oro Valley, they can see it at the
Cinemark there on the same date.
Wednesday, May 2
Cute Animal Video: Did you know that cats
like corn? I actually found a cat that
actually likes corn...on the cob.
West Wing Reunion: The folks at Funny or
Die got some of the cast members from The West Wing
together for a renunion. In "Walk & Talk" they're trying to
get people to walk in connection with the
everybodywalk.org campaign.
Upcoming Movies: First, It's the
franchise
that just won't stop. They're making Fast and Furious 6
folks. I can't really complain if they have Dwayne 'The
Rock' Johnson in it. And they're rebooting the 2004 Hugh
Jackman-Kate Beckinsale film "Van Helsing." But according
to
Cinemablend, Tom
Cruise will star. Guaranteed a little more dough will be
spent on the script.
Hollytot News: Jessica Simpson is now a
mommy. She and her fiancee Eric Johnson welcomed baby
girl
named Maxwell Drew Johnson on Monday.
Fringe Finale: Fox has put out a
Fringe finale trailer, sort
of...
Music News: You a Pearl Jam
fan? Good news. They're working on a new album
to be released next year.
Tuesday, May 1
Cute Animal Video: Well, cute is in the
eye of the beholder in this video. An octopus caught in
a shrimp trap in Alaska was allowed to escape from a boat
on its own. Apparently it crawled through a 3 inch opening
and terrorized their catch of prawns and unscrewed a bait
jar lid to try and feast on shrimp pellets. They let it go
because they "respected it's genius."
Star Trek 2 Movie Details: Some details
are being revealed on the next Star Trek movie. Benedict
Cumberbatch (who plays Sherlock on PBS) has already been
revealed as the villain. But Collider also has some other
spoilers about what exactly that role will be. I will NOT
tell you here because some of you will get mad and email
me saying, "Why did you tell????" I mean, just yesterday,
I got an email from someone saying they were a little
disappointed by the new Prometheus because it actually
showed what the aliens look like.
But if you really want to know the details, click here.
New Movie Trailer: It's trailer
#3 from The Dark Knight
Rises.
I don't need to tell you how good it looks.
Movie Award Nominations: What's topping
the
nomination list of the MTV Movie
Awards
? The Hunger Games and
Bridesmaids. Both got 8 nominations a
piece.
Trekkie News: Attention trekkies, Star
Trek: TNG season 1 is coming out on Blu-ray on July 24,
according to EW.
House of Horror: If you're a fan of
horror films, then you'll want to head to Vegas to check
out Eli Roth's
Goretorium. It's set to open on September 27,
according to Deadline. The creator, Eli Roth who brought
us Hostel says this isn't for little kids.
Attention Duranies: Duran
Duran is set to perform at the Olympic Games
opening concert in London. That's right Duran Duran. I
think a Duranie just fainted at hearing the news.
Monday, April 30
Daily Cute Animal Video: A porcupet or a
baby
porcupine eats a banana. It's as cute as can
be. Listen to the squeaks. They're darn cute.
Funny "Attack" Ad: The White
House Correspondent's Dinner was on Saturday night. I
didn't
get to watch it yet, but I did watch this clip
in which President Obama jokes about an "attack"
ad from the Romney campaign that goes to far by accusing
the president of dog socialism.
New Trailer for 'The Newsroom': There's a
new
trailer for the new Aaron Sorkin's TV show
'The Newsroom' starring Jeff Daniels. It premieres June
24.
New Prometheus Trailer: I don't know
about you, but I'm getting excited about Prometheus from
director Ridley Scott. Here's the new
international trailer for the film.
Friday, April 27
The Not So Cute Animal Video: This video
has had 15 million hits on the internet. Two guys go
fishing and one fella hooked a
big one . . . a big octopus that is. I just
can't believe it's real. But it's pretty interesting.
Movie Trailer of the Day: Disney has a
new movie coming out called The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
It's about a childless couple that decides to make a wish
list of all the things that describe the kid they'd like
to have and bury those wishes in the garden. But unlike
Pet Cemetary, something . . . or someone sweet digs his
way out of the garden. This film is by Peter Hedges (one
of my favorite all-time Hollywood interviews) who wrote
and/or directed What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
, About A Boy, Dan in
Real Life, and my personal favorite and most
underappreciated in his collection Pieces of
April.
Remake Alert: I'm so excited I can't
stand
it. I've loved this movie ever since I was a little kid
and
I've been hoping that a remake would happen. Well, it is.
What movie is it? Uptown Saturday Night. Bill Cosby and
Sidney Poitier starred in the original. Well, according to
Cinemablend, Will Smith has been
wanting a remake as well and he's attached to star along
with Denzel Washington.
Bad Star Advice: So, what actress told
plus-sized actress Gabourey Sidibe she should quit show
business because it was too image-conscious. None other
than
Joan Cusack. I love Joan Cusack, but I'm glad Gabby didn't
listen to that junk advice. Gabby earned an Oscar
nomination
for Precious after getting that
advice and is still working in Hollywood.
